Robot Technology for Infrastructure Management Invited

Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will start on April 9 inviting innovators of robotics technologies for infrastructure management. The on-site examination committee for the next generation robots was held on April 2 and it decided the detailed procedures and contents of requirements in the five designated sectors such as bridges and tunnels. Tested in the construction site of the ministry-sponsored public works, the candidate technologies will be developed for practical use.
The application guidelines define invited technologies in 19 categories in five sectors such as inspection of infrastructure difficult for human to reach, management of underwater concrete of dams, information collecting at restricted disaster areas.
The applications are accepted until May 28. The committee will select the applicants to be subsided by the ministry based on results of the demonstrations by the end of March 2015. (2014/04/03)
