Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will promote utilization of private-sector licenses of infrastructure inspectors. The expert panel of the minister’s advisory committee will start discussion on specific conditions at a meeting on April 16. It is expected that existing and newly-established licenses will be certified by the minister based on the national standards of qualifications of technical capacity. The accreditation is scheduled to start within fiscal 2014 that ends in March 2015 and the ministry intends to utilize the certification as one of requirements for consultants to be hired for the public works in fiscal 2015.
A last year’s report on infrastructure maintenance by two advisory bodies to the minister proposed that the ministry should establish a third party organization to evaluate the certification standards to promote utilization of the licenses issued by the private sector. Based on the report, the subcommittee under the advisory bodies will discuss establishment of the certification system, identifying required abilities for licensed inspectors. (2014/04/16)
