A Tokyo-based organization, Institute of Building Environment and Energy Conservation (IBEC) announced on April 15 that it gave the highest grade of certification for energy efficient buildings to an under-construction office building in Tianjin, China. The certificate, called Comprehensive Assessment System for Built Environment Efficiency or CASBEE, was first given to a project outside Japan. The building is equipped with advanced green systems such as natural lighting, photovoltaic power generation and water recycling.
TEDA MSD H2 Low Carbon Building Project, located in TEDA Modern Service District in Tianjin, will have 16,236m2 floor space. The sponsor is Tianjin TEDA Development CO. and it is designed by UK’s Atkins and Chinese Tianjin Architecture Design Institute. The construction has been practiced by China Construction First Building (Group) Corporation. Japan’s Nikken Sekkei Research Institute evaluated the project. (2014/04/16)
