Japan Federation of Construction Contractors released a proposal on April 18 of securing and training construction craft workers, aiming to improve the income level, promote social insurance enrollment and improve multi-storied subcontracting system.
It clearly stated that the industry will make an effort to raise the craft workers annual income to about 5.3million yen that equals average salary of all industries from current 4million yen level. Income raise is expected to increase the number of younger generations’ involvement as well as to improve the industry’s attractions.
Subcontracting would be allowed up to two times in some sectors by 2018 and social insurance entry should be achieved by all subcontractors by 2017, the group proposed. The federation will request member companies to approach the issues based on the proposal. (2014/04/21)
