Hitachi Ltd. announced on April 21 that it will install record-breaking 1200m/m elevators to a 530m multi-purpose sky scraper in Guangzhou, China. Equipped with the newly developed drive and control system, the world’s fastest elevators will enable safe and comfortable rides. The building is slated to open in 2016.
Two of the bulk orders totaling 95 units received by Hitachi will travel at ultra-high speed, delivering passengers from the first to 95th floors in 43 seconds. The company applies a permanent magnet synchronous motor that gives a lift the high output as well as a newly developed control system called “Active Guide Rollers” that can mitigate vibration due to wind pressure.
China is the largest market of elevators. The number of installation in 2013 reached 450,000 and 60% of the world’s entire demand comes from China. Hitachi hopes to hold the largest shares in the country, which is considered the most competitive market, the company’s officer said. (2014/04/22)
