Order Received by Japanese Top Builders Rises 20.8% in 2013

Japan Federation of Construction Contractors announced the order value received by 48 of its member companies in 2013, which rose 20.8% from last year to 12.6 trillion yen. The value reached 10 trillion yen three years in a row. The order value has been approaching the 2004-2007 level before the global financial crisis in 2008.
The total value comprises 8.1 trillion yen in private domestic orders, 3.6 trillion yen in public construction, 859.9 billion yen in overseas orders. Increase in road and radiation decontamination works pushed up the total record of public orders. Rise in school works and urban residential development of private orders was remarkable, while overseas orders from Asian countries showed a significant increase. (2014/04/25)
