Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism published on April 25 the implementation policy of a long-term lease concession for the right to operate Sendai Airport in Miyagi Prefecture. The ministry will select a concessionaire among bidders, which will form a special purpose company to operate the runaways and the terminal buildings for 65 years at longest. Invitations of bids will be issued in June and the bidding process is scheduled to start in November. The concession is slated for commencement in FY2015. An orientation for possible bidders will be held on May 2 at the ministry in Tokyo. (2014/04/28)
