Mori Building Co., a Japanese leading developer, is ramping up creation of three-dimensional city model for urban development. The company has developed a framework to build high-quality models and virtual reality images at reasonable cost. The company intends to receive orders from local governments and private developers planning urban development and to expand its opportunities to participate in urban planning and developing businesses.
The company has been accumulating know-hows on model building since late 1990s as an approach to have a bird’s-eye view on urban planning. Total spaces of models created by its original method reached as large as 460m2, believed to be the world’s largest scale according to Mori Building.
Taking advantage of data created in the process of model building, the developer succeeded in establishing sophisticated virtual reality models by using computer game programming software. Virtual Reality or VR that represents buildings and urban landscape by computer graphics has been widely used in review of blue prints and designs as well as at occasions such as presentations to clients.
