Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism decided May 21 action plans for 2014-2020 on prolonging infrastructure such as roads and dams.　The plans propose specific approaches to apply maintenance cycle of infrastructure throughout the nation. Measures such as mandatory visual check every five year and inspection on runway surface of airports every three year are included in the new manuals.

Targeted infrastructure varies in 14 fields including roads, dams, coasts, sewer, airports, rails and houses. The action plans were prepared on the ground of the basic plan decided by the government last November. (2014/05/22)
