The Overseas Construction Association of Japan announced May 22 the record of orders received outside Japan by its 49 member companies in fiscal 2013, which shows 35.5% increase in values from a year earlier to 1.6 trillion yen despite 5% down in number. The value, the third largest in the history, reached to the same level before the global financial crisis in 2008.
The orders in Asia increased 31.6% to 794 billion yen, pushing the entire record up. Particularly a significant 167.8% hike was seen in Singapore. Besides Asia, regions such as North America, Middle East, Latin America and Africa also showed a big increase. (2014/05/23)
