Three rail operators of Japan’s metropolitan area broke ground June 10 to build a new terminal building of Shibuya Station in Tokyo, the largest of the three redevelopment projects planned by the group totaling some 270,000m2 floor space. Tokyu Construction and Taisei Corp. are in charge of construction.
Tokyu Corp, East Japan Railway Company and Tokyo Metro Co. will build a 46 story multi-purpose high rise, tentatively named East Wing in the plot of old Shibuya station. Completion is due in July 2019. The whole project including remaining two buildings; Central and West Wing is slated for completion in 2028.
