Kajima Corp. announced June 18 that its subsidiary received an order to build a new complex for the law school of Singapore Management University (SMU). The \12billion contract includes a lecture building and a dorm-shaped library with total floor area of 38,668m2. Completion is due in December 2016.
Kajima Overseas Asia Pte Ltd. (KOA) has started the work early this month in the south part of the SMU campus in Bras Basah District. The structure has two floors underground and six above ground. The buildings were designed by a local firm, MKPL Architects.
The contractor won the bidding over other Japanese and local firms. KOA made a proposal of carefully planned construction management to meet the severe condition of the site overcrowded and adjacent to a historical building. (2014/6/19)
