Japanese construction machinery manufacturer Tadano announced on December 6th the introduction of the world's first fully electric rough terrain crane, the "EVOLT eGR-250N," into the domestic market. The crane is designed to perform all lifting and driving operations solely on battery power, achieving zero carbon dioxide emissions. Positioned as a versatile and high-performance crane with a lifting capacity of 25 tons, it addresses the highest demand in construction sites.
Featuring a maximum working radius of 34 meters, a maximum lifting height of 44.2 meters, and a top speed of 49 km/h, the crane adopts the rapid charging system using CHAdeMO, enabling a quick charge in approximately 2.5 hours. A full charge provides enough power for a typical day of crane operations. The selling price is set at 148 million yen (excluding taxes), with a sales target of 20 units annually.
Traditional cranes are often equipped with diesel engines, posing challenges related to substantial CO2 emissions. On the same day, Toshiaki Ujiie, President and CEO of Tadano, expressed optimism during a press conference in Takamatsu, stating, "This electric crane contributes significantly to realizing a decarbonized society."
