250,000m2 Development in Toranomon, Tokyo Gets OK from Metropolitan Government

A plan to build two super high rises with total floor area of 250,000m2 in Minato-ku, Tokyo was given the green light on July 15. The Toranomon 2 Redevelopment Project is expected to cost some \145.6 billion. Two organizations; Urban Renaissance Agency (UR) and KKR are owners of the project. Construction is scheduled to start in 2015 and completion of the entire plan is due in 2024.

The development will be practiced in a 2.9 ha plot in Toranomon, where now stand Toranomon Hospital and National Printing Bureau. Construction of a 87,300m2 new hospital building will be undertaken from 2015-2018 and a 179m tall office building with 167,300m2 floor space will be built later in 2019-2022. (2014/07/15)
