Japanese construction company Penta-Ocean Construction held a commemorative ceremony in Singapore on December 6th to mark its 60th anniversary in the country. The event was attended by President Takuzo Shimizu and company executives, alongside guests including Toru Hotta, Minister at the Embassy of Japan in Singapore. Approximately 950 participants, including representatives from Penta-Ocean’s Singapore affiliates and local employees, gathered to celebrate the milestone, featuring a ceremonial “kagami-biraki,” sake barrel opening, to honor the occasion.
In his opening remarks, President Shimizu stated, “We entered Singapore in 1964, a year before the country’s independence, and are proud to celebrate our 60th anniversary this year. Over the past six decades, Penta-Ocean has been involved in numerous large-scale projects here.” He acknowledged the challenges of Singapore’s highly competitive construction market but emphasized, “I am confident that our capabilities are recognized through our commitment to completing technically demanding projects with safety as our top priority and maintaining the highest quality standards.”
Mr. Shimizu further underscored the importance of collaboration with local contractors and suppliers, saying, “They are indispensable to our operations in Singapore. Let us continue to work as partners toward achieving a sustainable future and realizing dreams that bring hope and possibilities to the next generation.”
Since receiving its first contract for wharf construction at Jurong Shipyard in 1964, Penta-Ocean Construction has played a key role in numerous projects across Singapore. Today, the company continues to contribute to the nation’s development through large-scale building construction and civil engineering projects. (2024/12/10)
