Japanese Land Ministry decided September 1 the 2014 plan for promotion of construction waste recycle, targeting more than 96% of the waste to be reused during 2014 and 2018. It aims to promote using recycled materials that are made with byproducts from all public and private works, while the plan includes measures to reduce the amount of waste and targeted figures of each material such as concrete mass and asphalt. The plan urges contractors to apply new technologies such as Construction Information Modeling (CIM) to accelerate recycling. Currently increasing construction works including rehabilitation of aged buildings and infrastructure has raised the necessity of new approaches to promote waste recycle. (2014/09/02)
