Three Japanese companies in construction industry; Yasui Architects & Engineers, Pacific Consultants and Sanki Engineering have started demonstration of energy-efficient equipment installation at a building to be developed at the Shanghai Advanced Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. With an aid of Japanese ministry of economy and New Energy & Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO), the companies will introduce Japanese advanced energy-saving system with an aim of making the project a foothold to expand business in China.

The model project include renewable energy utilization such as photovoltaic power and underground heat and various green technologies including absorption dehumidifying air conditioning, heat recovery system, LED lightings and Building Energy Management System (BEMS). After installation in late 2015, data will be collected and analyzed by the contractors.

The project funded by the economic and trade ministry and NEDO consists of three phases; the feasibility study, demonstration and follow-ups. The demonstration started in August at a planned research center building based on results of the study conducted in 2013. Looking to establishment of a joint venture with the Chinese research institute, the companies will soon launch a collaborative consulting service on energy saving. (2014/09/09)
