Employees aged from 15 to 34 comprised 21% of all construction workers in 2013, falling 4% from five years ago, Labor ministry reported. The result demonstrates the shortage of young generations in the industry, showing a significant fall from the last survey in 2009 when the global financial crisis brought abruptly tightening employment pictures in Japan.

In all industries, 28.6% are young workers, decreasing from 32.9% in the last survey. 29.4% of the construction companies reported no employee of age 15-34, increasing 10.2% from 2009. (2014/10/08)
