The Overseas Construction Association of Japan (OCAJI) announced the total amount of overseas construction orders received by its membership companies in April-September rose 33.5% from a year earlier to 701.2 billion yen and the number of contracts up 8.1% to 1091. Orders from Asia, North America and Middle East were in good shape. Contracts valued at more than 20 billion yen counted three, while there was none in the previous year. According to an OCAJI officer, Order values have made a recovery from last year and the yearly values may be able to reach 1.2-1.3 trillion yen.

The order values by region are as follows; 439.6 billion yen, up 16.1% in Asia; 57.2 billion yen, up 141.1% in Middle East; 9.7 billion yen, up 403.9% in Africa; 152.8 billion yen, up 86.3% in North America; 25.6 billion yen, up 2.4% in Latin America; 0.9 billion yen, down 80.8% in Europe; 11.9 billion yen, up 60.4% in East Europe; 3.5 billion yen, up 95.1% in Oceania. Contracts of subway construction in Jakarta, Indonesia has been awarded to Japanese enterprises, while Japanese contractor’s local subsidiary won a large scale order in Qatar.
