Tokyo Metropolitan Government unveiled on December 19 a model plan to develop the 2020 Olympic Village in Harumi area near the Tokyo Bay. The village will have 22 apartment buildings, a shopping center before the games as well as two high rise apartments to be developed after the games. The government will invite potential developers and appoint the contractor by the end of March 2015. The village in the designated 44 ha area will accommodate 17,000 athletes a day during the games. The construction cost is estimated at 105.7 billion yen. According to the Tokyo’s model plan, 22 condominium buildings will have 14-17 stories, while the two high rises will have 50 floors.
