Japan-Funded Noi Bai Airport Terminal 2 and Nhat Tan Bridge in Vietnam Celebrated Opening

Vietnam’s three most important transport projects, the Noi Bai International Airport Terminal 2, Nhat Tan Bridge, the longest cable-stayed bridges in Southeast Asia and the connecting highway completed. Japanese government funded the projects with 130 billion yen loan. Many Vietnamese government leaders, Japan’s Minister Akihiro Ota of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism and Japanese contractors attended the inauguration ceremony on January 4, 2015 and celebrated completion.

The terminal 2 was constructed by a joint venture of Japan’s Taisei Corp. and a local contractor, Vinaconex. At the ceremony, Mr. Takashi Yamauchi, President of Taisei Corp. thanked all stakeholders including Vietnamese government and Airport Corporation of Vietnam, an employer of the project, expressing his enthusiasm to participate in more infrastructure developments in the country. Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam, Mr. Hoang Trung Hai expressed his appreciation for Japanese consultants and contractors for building the-state-of-the-art structure.

The 3,080 meter bridge was constructed by a consortium of Japanese contractors; IHI Infrastructure Systems Co. and Sumitomo Mitsui Construction Co. Mr. Hoang Trung Hai said at the ceremony, “the Bridge plays an important role in social and economic development of Northern Hanoi. On behalf of the Vietnamese government, I would like to thank Japanese government and people for the loan. Japanese consultants and contractors are highly appreciated for their precise work.” Minister Akihiro Ota said “I would like to express my largest appreciation to all the stakeholders including Vietnamese government, local leaders of Hanoi, relating ministries and Japanese contractors. I hope people in Hanoi like the iconic design of the bridge and make the best use of it for a long time.” (2015/1/6)
