According to half-year accounting reports in fiscal 2013, 24 out of top 25 construction contractors increased the value of orders from a year earlier. 21 earn more sales and 20 posted profits. Yearly forecast for March 2014 showed 16 expect to increase both revenues and profits.

All of top 4 contractors achieved net sales increase, including Obayashi Corp., which earned more than 700 billion yen. Besides them, three other companies marked more than 30% rise in revenue, four reported more than 20% increase. Many of them posted profits despite of rising cost of labor and materials thanks to improvement of profitability of each construction work and cost reduction, in addition to increased sales of reconstruction works in Tohoku region.
