The 2015 budget of Japanese Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will likely to increase 0.2% from the previous year to 5.79 trillion yen. Public works budget is to remain unchanged at 5.17 trillion yen. The administration approved a record 96.34 trillion yen general accounting budget, up 0.5% from the year earlier. The Land Ministry requested a stable and sustainable allocation for public works in light of supporting construction industry which is responsible for infrastructure maintenance and disaster recovery. With the budget approved by the cabinet, the ministry will address much-needed issues such as ageing infrastructure, disaster prevention and local revitalization. (2015/1/15)
