Mitsui Fudosan Co. announced on January 26 that it will develop a 51-story office building in New York City as part of Hudson Yards, the largest real estate project in the US history. The company’s subsidiary in the country will start construction works by the end of 2015, investing 150 billion yen in total. Completion is due in 2018.Hudson Yards spreads in 11 hectares in the west part of Manhattan. The two local firms oversee the whole developments including five office buildings, three condominiums with 5,000 units, a retail complex with more than 100 shops and a high end hotel. The first phase will complete in 2019 and the second phase is slated to be undertaken in 2020.Mitsui Fudosan’s project will have offices and shops in the total floor area of 117,600m2.
