Ministry of Transport of Japan held a meeting with Vietnamese counterpart in Tokyo on January 28. Deputy Director General of MLIT, Mr. Hiroshi Muto met with Deputy Minister of Transport of Vietnam, Mr. Dong, discussing transport infrastructure developments in Vietnam such as airports and railways. After the meeting, administrative officials of the both sides talked over the more detailed matters with attendance of Japanese construction companies and design firms. The private sector and MLIT promoted their technologies of infrastructure to Vietnamese officials.Mr. Muto said “Vietnam needs more infrastructure for the nation’s further economic growth,” expressing his enthusiasm to deepen the partnership between the two countries. Deputy Minister Dong requested Japan to assist with other projects to follow the past successful examples such as Nhat Tan Bridge and Noi Bai Internatinoal Airport Terminal 2. Japan is exploring opportunities in a huge airport development plan near Ho Chi Minh. Information including the current status of the plan was shared at the meeting. (2015/1/29)
