Japanese Construction Investment Forecast in 2015 Revised Upward by 600 Billion Yen To 46.6 Trillion Yen

Japanese construction investment in 2015 is projected at 46.55 trillion yen, 1.2% down from the year earlier, said two research institutes on February 9. With the government’s public works investment from the 2014 supplementary and 2015 full year budget determined, 600 billion yen was added to the initial forecast announced in October 2014.

According to the Research Institute of Construction and Economy and Economic Research Association, public works spending in fiscal 2015 starting in April is estimated at 18.25 trillion yen, 7.7% decline from 2014. Private investment on housing is projected to increase 4.8% to 16.15 trillion yen, while private non-residential investment will be at 13.15 trillion yen, 1.9% up from the previous year. (2015/02/10)
