Japan to Give Hand to Thailand in Railway Development

Japanese transport minister Akihiro Ota signed the Memorandum of Understanding on February 9 with the Thailand’s counterpart, Transport minister Prajin to cooperate on railway development. The signing ceremony was held at MLIT head office in Tokyo.

The both sides agreed to launch a preliminary feasibility study to be funded by Japanese government on a plan to develop multiple high speed rail lines including one running central Thailand between Chiang Mai and Bangkok. Japan also pledged to provide technical assistance in urban transit projects in the capital. (2015/02/10)
