Sato Kogyo Co. Ltd. announced it won a 30 billion yen contract of building tunnels and a station for Singapore Metro “Thomson Line.” Sponsored by Land Transport Authority of Singapore, the civil work is scheduled to complete in May 2020. Upper Thomson station will be built 20 meters underground, with a length of 228 meters. Its four associated tunnels of 3.9 kilometer long in total will be built by three Slurry Shield Tunneling Machines, excavating the composite ground of granite and weathered granite layers.

The 30-km long Thomson Line will connect Woodlands District in the north and Marina Bay area in the south. Fully underground, Thomson Line comprises 22 stations, including six interchange stations to provide greater accessibility and significantly improve travel time for commuters. (2013/11/21)
