The new United States Ambassador to Japan Caroline Kennedy on November 25 visited the earthquake affected area in Tohoku region including Ishinomaki City, Minami-Sanriku Town, and Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture, observing the reconstruction sites and expressing gratitude to workers and officials.
The Ambassador was briefed by Director Tsuyoshi Koike of Tohoku Regional Development Bureau of the Land Ministry at the disaster control headquarters in the morning and then she headed to places such as temporary houses, an elementary school, and Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Camp Sendai. She is scheduled to visit other tourist spots in Iwate Prefecture and other cities in Tohoku on the next day. (2013/11/26)
