A joint venture of three Japanese construction companies; Tokyu Construction, Toyo Construction and IHI Infrastructure Systems have signed a contract with Ministry of Construction of Myanmar to build the New Thaketa Bridge in Yangon City. The project, a grant aid by Japanese official development, will launch within April and is scheduled to complete in 2018. This is the first public work order Tokyu secured in the country, though it has been in charge of several consulting works.

The two-lane old bridge will be replaced by the new 253m four-lane pre-stressed concrete bridge, which is expected to ease traffic congestion and enhance logistics network in the nation’s economic center. The contract includes the total 620m roadway consisting of the three-span bridge and an approach road. (2015/04/01)
