Japanese government revised the basic plan to react possible Tokyo Inland Earthquake that was first established a year ago, aiming to reduce by half the number of collapsed and burned-down houses and buildings in the next 10 years, which are currently projected to reach 610,000 structures in the worst scenario. The plan outlines measures such as quake resisting works and prevention of electric fire.

Percentage of quake resisting public and commercial buildings is aimed to rise to 95% by 2020 from 80% in 2008. The government will also promote use of seismic detecting breakers that automatically shut down electricity at the time of earthquakes. (2015/04/01)
