Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan mapped out a policy to establish a system to record information of all laborers working at construction sites, including work history, skills level and past experiences. A consortium consisting of the ministry, industry groups and academia will be formed this summer, says a ministry panel on May 19.
A program designed to collect entry and exit records of workers will be able to integrate information of each worker’s skills and experience. The system is expected to enable fair evaluation of employees, improvement of working conditions and effective human resources deployment. Though several systems of labor management are currently in operation in Japan, there has not been any such integrated system commonly used by different construction companies that can store various information.
