Japanese JV Awarded Contract of Building Floodway in Indonesia

Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism announced on January 7 that a Japanese consortium will participate in the floodway construction project in Indonesia. Two underground canals of 1.3 km long each will be built connecting Ciliwung River and an existing canal in suburban Jakarta. The project with the total investment of 5 billion yen is scheduled for completion in 2015.

The joint venture of Kidoh Construction Co. Ltd., Yasuda Engineering Co. Ltd and Iseki Poly-Tech Inc. will offer equipment and technical advises on the pipe-jacking method to an Indonesian construction company, the general contractor. The contract amount is about 1.6billion yen. This is the first overseas contract won by members of a private-public organization, Japan Global Center for Urban Sanitation which was established in 2009 to promote export of Japanese sewer system.
