Japanese Transport Ministry will launch feasibility study on development of Shinkansen Bullet Train System for a planned high-speed rail line linking Thailand’s capital city Bangkok and the northern city of Chiang Mai. Minister Akihiro Ota and his counterpart Minister Prajin signed MOU on cooperation on March 27.

Four Japanese private companies; JR East, Hitachi, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Mitsui & Co show an interest in involvement in the 1 trillion yen-plus project, says MLIT. The study is expected to explore the 670 km route and stations plan, a project delivery method, and a timeline. (2015/05/29)
