Japan’s Shimizu Wins 2.7 km Bridge in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam at 20.7 Billion Yen

Japanese construction giant Shimizu Corp. announced that it won a contract to construct a cable stayed bridge in southern Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam at 20.7 billion yen. A joint venture of Shimizu and local-based Vinaconex E&C signed the contract with Vietnam Expressway Corporation on June 9.

The project, funded by Japanese Official Development Assistance, is part of Ben Luc-Long Thanh expressway of North-South Expressway, a planned route linking the capital city of Ha Noi and the southern city of Ho Chi Minh.

The Binh Khanh Bridge spanning 2,763 meter will have 155 meter tall pylons and 33 piers. The main towers will be piled underground as deep as 60 meters using total 144 steel pipes of 1.5 m diameter. The construction will be undertaken for 47 months. (2015/06/10)
