Japan International Cooperation Agency signed an ODA agreement with the government of Laos to loan up to 9 billion yen for the airport terminal expansion project. The contract, singed on January 10 by the two governments, includes expansion of an existing international terminal at Vientiane International Airport and building a new terminal building for domestic flights, in the aim of responding to increasing aviation demands, and improving the airport’s efficiency and safety.

The project will introduce a concept of “Eco-Airport,” applying energy saving technologies. Ministry of Public Works and Transport will give a tender notice for international competitive bidding on project construction in December. The work is scheduled for completion in June 2018. (2014/01/15)
