Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism will hold an executive conference in Naypyidaw in January 30 with Myanmar’s construction ministry, where MLIT intends to promote Japanese companies’ infrastructure business in Myanmar by proposing solutions for transport and urban development projects. A public-private meeting will be also held in late February discussing the disaster prevention sector including flood control.

Myanmar, which is planning large-scaled road projects like East-West Economic Corridor, is in need of technologies and know-hows of construction such as bridges and pavements. The ministry will offer the solutions which Japanese construction companies can participate in. Improvement of legislation system of urban development will be also proposed with the aim of introducing Japanese architecture standards. At the February workshop, the two countries intend to reach agreement on continuous cooperation for disaster prevention. (2014/01/15)
