Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism of Japan will establish a database in summer integrating information on aviation demands all over the world. As an attempt to promote Japanese business in the overseas aviation industry, the database will contain information such as airport development and expansion plans especially in emerging countries in South East Asia and Middle East. The information will be offered to members of a public-private council for promoting Japanese aviation business established in 2013 by MLIT and the private sector, with participation of Japan’s leading construction companies including Kajima Corp., Shimizu Corp., Taisei Corp., Obayashi Corp., and Takenaka Corp.

The database includes information on airports; the current state and plans of future investments; risk factors in operation and legislation; identified issues in development and operation. The aviation market is expected to grow remarkably especially in Asia and Pacific region due to development of Low-Cost-Carriers and business jets, followed by increasing demand for aviation infrastructure. The government intends to help Japanese companies expand their overseas business by providing countries including Vietnam, Laos, and Myanmar with Japanese yen loan in association with Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
