Tokyo Metro Co. announced a winner of the design competition for the new Ginza station. The rail operator will undertake the improvement work of the station located in the capital’s commercial area in 2017 and completion is due in 2019.

The first prize was awarded to Ms. Azusa Yoshioka who presented a design introducing photos of old Ginza area and the station on the wall and lemon yellow glasses for pillars. Tokyo Metro launched upgrading of the stations on Ginza Line including major Tokyo’s tourist destinations such as Ueno and Asakusa with total investment of 50 billion yen. (2015/06/22)
