MLIT Proposes Priority Infrastructure Development Plan for 2020

Japanese Land Ministry submitted a draft of the Fourth Priority Infrastructure Development Plan for 2020 to the minister’s advisory panel on July 24. To maximize effects of social stocks, the plan sets the Key Performance Indicator, KPI on important goals such as maintenance and quake resisting of infrastructure, development of compact cities and private investment. The plan is expected to be approved by the Cabinet in September.

By fiscal 2020, MLIT will develop all detailed plans to prolong infrastructure lifetime and aim at 80% completion of planned Ring Roads in three major metropolitan regions. The plan stipulates policies such as undertaking structural reforms that can develop future labor forces and focusing on selected key sectors of infrastructure developments.(2015/07/27)
