Japanese Infrastructure Ministry and Shimizu Corp. invited ambassadors from 22 African countries to the company headquarters and its technical research center in Tokyo on July 29 to promote Japanese construction and engineering technologies. The Company Tour, the first event planned and initiated by the ministry to promote Japanese infrastructure export, offered opportunities to see Shimizu’s state-of-the-art technologies such as quake resisting and disaster prevention. The company intends to take advantage of the event to penetrate the African market.

The African ambassadors and ministers who participated in the tour experienced seismic motions on the full-scale shaking table at Shimizu’s Advanced Earthquake Engineering Laboratory. “We would like to show advanced technologies that highly-experienced Shimizu Corporation can offer,” said a MLIT official. Head of the Shimizu research center expressed his intention to cooperate with African countries in infrastructure development. (2015/07/30)
