Japanese engineering company IHI Infrastructure Systems Corp. won a contract to construct 12 steel bridges ranging from 60 and 1,400 meters long and five concrete bridges jointly with local contractor L&T as part of India’s 1,500km Western Dedicated Freight Rail Corridor linking Delhi and Mumbai. The 21 billion yen contract was signed on August 21 between the contractors and the employer, Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India. Construction will begin late September with project completion anticipation in September 2019.

The total project cost reaches 900 billion yen, 450 billion yen of which is covered by Japanese Official Development Assistance. IHI have accumulated know-hows in bridge construction overseas including Nhat Tan Bridge in Vietnam and Izmit Bay Bridge in Turkey. (2015/08/21)
