JR East Announces Shinjuku, Tokyo To Get New Landmark in 2016

East Japan Railway Company announced on September 2 a detailed plan of a new complex under development in the south of Shinjuku Station in Tokyo. The 170-meter high rise, named JR MIRAINA Shinjuku Tower, will have retail shops, a theater, a daycare center, and offices with completion expected in March 2016.

The 58 billion yen MIRAINA Tower will have two floors underground and 32 above ground with total floor area of 111,000 m2. The station facility being built above railway tracks is slated to open in spring 2016.

The retail shops and offices are being constructed by a joint venture of Obayashi, Taisei and Tekken, while Obayashi, Tekken, Taisei and Daiwa Odakyu Construction are responsible for the station facility and the theater. (2015/09/03)
