Japan International Cooperation Agency completed the first phase of Kathmandu-Bhaktapur Road reconstruction works, a part of the disaster relief projects in Nepal which was devastated by a huge earthquake in April. Design and engineering was conducted by a group of Japanese firms; Eight-Japan Engineering Consultants, Nippon Koei and Tamano Consultants.
The 9.1 km Kathmandu-Bhaktapur Road was renovated to improve the capacity by Japanese grant aid in 2011. JICA has been undertaken the Project on Urban Transport Improvement for Kathmandu Valley, in which the group of the Japanese consulting firms was commissioned to develop the general transport masterplan in the capital city of Nepal. With the disaster occurred in the course of the project, the Eight-Japan Engineering Consultants group performed as consulting engineers to design and supervise the 0.6 m section of the emergency disaster relief on the road.
