Obayashi JV Wins Southern Section of Underground Shinagawa Station for Japan’s First Maglev Express Train

JR Tokai has awarded a contract on October 21 to build a southern section of the planned Shinagawa terminal for Maglev Bullet train to a joint venture of Obayashi, Toa and Kumagai. The contract value is not disclosed. The joint venture is to conduct earthwork together with the group of Shimizu Corp, which was commissioned to the northern section. Completion is due in February 2021. The new station will be constructed 40-meter underground of the existing Shinagawa Bullet Train station. The southern part stretches 300 meters and the northern part is 150 meters long. (2015/10/23)
