Japan’s largest architectural firm Nikken Sekkei announced November 10 that a group led by the firm has been selected to develop a master plan for Rail Corridor, redevelopment of the former railway site in Singapore. Urban Redevelopment Authority launched an international competition in March 2015 for the project transforming the 24 km stretch to the public space from Woodlands Train Checkpoint in the north to Tanjong Pagar Railway Station in the south.

Nikken teaming up with local landscape designer Tierra Design and engineering firm Ove Arup & Partners Singapore, will undertake the master plan development and the feasibility study on 4km initial Signature section. Nikken’s plan “Lines of Life” will create a green public space equipped with such amenities as a promenade, a bike lane, and rest houses. (2015/11/15)
