Japanese Largest Retail-Entertainment Complex “EXPO CITY” Opens in Osaka

Japanese developer Mitsui Fudosan held an opening ceremony of its newly-developed multi-purpose complex in the Expo ’70 Commemorative Park in Suita City, the northern suburb of Osaka on November 16. “EXPO CITY,” one of the largest kinds in Japan has 25 buildings totaling 220,000m2 floor space in the 17 ha area. The mall, designed and constructed by Takenaka Corp, opened officially on November 19. President of Mitsui Fudosan Masanobu Komoda praised the contractor’s efforts to complete the facility within the designated period despite such challenges as increasing cost of materials and labor, adding “the facility will become a place where people from all generations and countries can enjoy.”

EXPO CITY has a large-scaled shopping center, Lala Port as well as entertainment facilities; an aquarium NIFREL, an education facility OSAKA English Village, Poke Mon Exposium, cinemas, the nation’s largest wheel and so on. (2015/11/17)
