Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. will redevelop Nihonbashi district in Tokyo, building 8 structures reaching up to 2 million m2 floor space in total, said President Masanobu Komoda at the press conference on January 29. Toward 2020 when Olympic Games will take place in Tokyo, the company will boost the Nihonbashi Revitalization Plan, which would contribute to Tokyo’s reform into international metropolis, added President Komoda.

The Plan includes scenery improvement by removal of elevated expressways over the Nihonbashi Bridge. Komoda expressed his assent to local land owners who wish to create river front with an open sky and a clear stream of Nihonbashi River. He noted that increasing construction cost was one of his concerns regarding advancing the projects. (2014/01/30)
