Yokohama City announced November 17 that it awarded a Design/Build contract of its new city hall to a joint venture of Takenaka Corp. and Nishimatsu Corp. at 62.9 billion yen. The city hall will have 31 stories with total floor area of 140,000m2. Completion is slated in May 2020. The plan submitted by Takenaka group received good evaluation for its safe structures integrating complete ground survey and seismic isolation/control technologies as well as high energy efficiency.
