Japan’s Fiscal 2016 Budget: Public Works Spending To Rise Four Year Consecutive Years

Japanese government’s fiscal 2016 budget was approved by the cabinet on December 24. Out of a record 96.72 trillion yen budget, the budget for public works rose 0.04% to 5.97 trillion yen. 5.18 trillion yen has been appropriated for public works to be initiated by the Infrastructure Ministry, which represents the four-year consecutive increase.

The public works budget focuses on such measures as disaster prevention and infrastructure deterioration, as well as social infrastructure development targeting at economic growth. (2015/12/25)
